Shreya Ghoshal was born on 12 March 1984 in Berhampore, Murshidabad, in West Bengal. She was schooled at Atomic Energy Central School No. 4 in Rawatbhata until eighth grade and later studied at SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce in Mumbai. She began learning music at four and began formal classical training at six. She is married to Shiladitya Mukhopadhyaya, whom she wed in 2015.
Breakthrough
She won the Zee TV singing show Sa Re Ga Ma in 2000. Sanjay Leela Bhansali then cast her as the playback voice of Paro in Devdas (2002), where her song Bairi Piya won a National Film Award.
