Pawan Kalyan Offers Special Prayers at Kerala’s Thriprayar Sree Rama Temple

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan visited the famous Thriprayar Sree Rama Temple in Kerala on Friday, September 11. The temple is one of the prominent pilgrimage centres associated with the traditional Nalambalam pilgrimage.

During his visit, Pawan Kalyan participated in the temple’s special Deepaaradhana service in the evening. He made a donation towards the one-day Deepaaradhana and personally lit the lamps as part of the ritual. He also lit the main ceremonial lamps at the Sree Krishna shrine located opposite the temple’s main entrance.

Pawan Kalyan also took part in traditional temple rituals, including Meenootu and Vedi Vazhipadu. He offered prayers to Lord Sree Rama and witnessed the evening rituals at the temple.

He also offered silk garments to Lord Krishna and Lord Ayyappa at the temple complex. Special prayers were subsequently performed for Dakshinamurthy, Lord Ganesha and the reclining form of Anantha Padmanabha Swamy.

Following the rituals, the temple’s chief priest, Raman Thirumeni, presented Pawan Kalyan with theertham and prasadam and offered his blessings.

Pawan Kalyan Feeds Fish as Part of Temple Tradition

Before offering prayers to Lord Sree Rama, Pawan Kalyan visited the Lord Krishna shrine located on the northern side of the temple complex and participated in the Meenootu ritual.

The temple is situated alongside the Theevra River, where feeding fish is considered an important local tradition. Devotees believe that feeding the fish is symbolically equivalent to offering food to Lord Vishnu in his Matsya avatar.

Donation for 1,001 Firecrackers

Pawan Kalyan also participated in the Vedi Vazhipadu ritual, a distinctive tradition at the Thriprayar temple involving the ceremonial bursting of firecrackers.

According to temple tradition, the ritual is associated with the belief that Lord Hanuman conveyed the news of finding Sita to Lord Rama through his victorious call, to which Lord Rama responded with the sound of fireworks.

As part of the ritual, Pawan Kalyan donated the amount required for bursting 1,001 firecrackers.

He later visited Lord Ayyappa, worshipped by devotees as Sree Sastha, and received theertham and prasadam.

According to traditional accounts, the idol of Lord Sree Rama at Thriprayar is believed to have been worshipped by Lord Krishna during the Dvapara Yuga. Local traditions also state that idols of Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna reached the Kerala coast after the legendary city of Dwarka was submerged.

Pawan Kalyan is currently in Kerala for Ayurvedic treatment and took the opportunity to visit the historic temple and participate in its traditional rituals.
